-15 degrees can be HOT! Jacquelyn & Craig's E-session.
We've been living through a bit of a cold snap in Alberta these last few weeks. I always have to laugh when the weather forecaster says something like "We are expecting a high of -28 degrees this afternoon...". Can -28 degrees *really* be called a high? Come on!
Anyway, before things got crazy cold (as in -43 degrees with the wind-chill), I bundled up and braved the cold with Jacquelyn and Craig on January 20 for their Engagement Session. They wanted to incorporate one of the photos into their wedding invitation, so there was no wimping out to wait for warmer weather- a deadline is a deadline! And these two were real troopers about the sub-zero temps. Check 'em out! =)

Eventually we did seek refuge indoors to thaw out a bit!

The engagement session ALWAYS gets me really excited about shooting the wedding! I can't wait to see these guys in Victoria for their wedding at the **Delta Ocean Pointe Resort & Spa** on May 2nd. Thanks for a fun afternoon Jacquelyn and Craig! You two make -15 look good!
Cheers,
Karen
Portrait of a Diva
Meet the fabulous Ms. Joslin Romphf! Just a few days before Christmas, I had the chance to meet up with Joslin in Victoria to do some portraits. *Joslin* is phenomenal Soprano whose talents have taken her around the globe. And what a pair of blue eyes!

And a great smile to boot!
One of the perks (for me!) about Joslin being a performer is that she's incredibly comfortable in front of the camera.

Not a bad way to spend 45 minutes! It was a pleasure, Jos! Best wishes with all your dramatic pursuits!

Happy New Year!
Ok, I'm back for good, and there's plenty o' great things to blog about in 2008 (and even some sweet recaps of 2007), so keep checkin' out the Pure Photo Blog! I'll be back to posting things related to wedding and portrait photography soon, but first, here's a few pics of my scrumptious nephews from my trip to Victoria over the holidays:
Kieran (3 months), playing St. Nick for the day!
Santa sitting on someone else's lap for a change!
Gavin & Kieran, the bros!
Here's to a great '08!
Cheers!

Happy Holidays!
I'm taking some time off to celebrate Christmas with my loved ones, so I may be neglecting the blog for a little while. Not to leave you empty-handed, here's a photo from a recent photo session we did with our friends Seth and Andrea's new baby girl, Zoey Marie Stimpson! Zoey was due on December 10, but she decided to surprise her parents and show up on November 6th, over a month early!
We took lots of cute photos of Zoey (unfortunately, they're not on this laptop), and then James jumped in while her parents weren't looking to create this funny pic! It's their baby, and my baby! =)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Two Lovely Ladies.
Meet Paola & Hannah!

Paola & Hannah are part of a family that is very dear to me. Paola's sister Miriam is one of my best friends, and their dad is a photography buff, and he helped me pick out my first camera before I went to photo school in Hawaii! I still remember going to visit Paola in the hospital the day after Hannah was born. Well look what a beauty she is today!

Paola wanted some updated photos of Hannah for Christmas gifts, so on my last visit to Victoria, I spent some time with the two of them. We took the opportunity to get some Mommy-Daughter shots too. They're just a couple of knock-outs!

Have any of you noticed Paola's flawless make-up yet? This girl is a beauty aficionado, and I love it when she updates her fabulous BLOG. She has no idea how much she influences the soap and lipstick I buy!
I'm looking forward to working with Paola on Jacquelyn and Craig's wedding in Victoria on May 2nd, 2008.
Well, I've done pretty well at shaking off my obsession with blogging things chronologically, don't you think? All my blog posts have been fairly recent, relatively speaking! I still have hopes of sharing some of my INCREDIBLE weddings from 2007 before the year is out. Keep the faith!
Cheers,
Karen
